About the Program

Graduate Education building
The "Razorbug" delivers a diploma to a graduate of the U of A Online Campus

The faculty of adult and lifelong learning have a balance between Doctors of Philosophy and Doctors of Education and the way they interacted with each of us as students, my experience was that they were able to meet me where I was based on my previous degrees

Our vision for the Doctor of Education in Adult and Lifelong Learning Program at the University of Arkansas is to become the global leader in preparing working professionals to be holistic educational leaders.

Our program and faculty provide a rigorous, interdisciplinary course of study that challenges learners to synthesize academic theory into specific, research-backed practices to use in their professional and personal lives.

Whether online or on-campus, we foster a unique and supportive learning environment that allows students to build upon the experiences they bring with them while also developing and discussing new ideas with their peers.

Our graduates will be leaders in lifelong learning, advancing empirical knowledge, and fostering positive change in their industries, communities, and organizations.

Cohort Model

The Ed.D. in Adult and Lifelong Learning program uses a blended, cohort-based delivery system so learners in similar roles can interact with their peers. The Adult Education Leadership Cohort focuses on a comprehensive view of adult learning in many environments, while the Community College Leadership Cohort focuses on the same and adds a focused context on the community college.

A new cohort begins in the fall semester each year; however, the concentrations are offered every other year. The Adult Education Leadership concentration is offered in years that end in an even number (for example, 2022), and the Community College Leadership concentration is offered in years that end in an odd number (for example, 2023).
